Montgomery County Community Events for November
Welcome to November! We hope you had a great Halloween and you're getting ready for colder temperatures to (finally) come next week. In this week's blog, we'll be listing out a few activities to look forward to this weekend and throughout the month November, including a Christmas Bazaar starting on the 10th!
Veteran's Day is November 11th
Washington.org put together an amazing piece of everything you can do to honor the Veteran's. Check out the list of events, and how local restaurants will honor those on November 11th and 12th this year.
Kensington Farmer’s Market
Join fellow local and regional vendors to feast on freshly baked goods, seasonal fruits and vegetables, organic meats, seafood and cheeses, oils, and even prepared foods. Shop local! The Farmer's Market is open every Saturday year-round from 9 am to 1 pm. It's located at the Historic Train Station at 10417 Howard Ave in Kensington. For more information, click here.
Third Annual Dog Adoption Event + Fundraiser
If you're an animal lover like I am, you'll be interested in the third annual dog adoption event hosted by City Dogs Rescue and SR/A La Collection. In this unique adoption event and fundraiser at the SR/A La Collection art & antique gallery in Bethesda, you'll be able to meet adorable, loving, adoptable dogs, and participate in a silent auction and bake sale. 100% of the proceeds benefit City Dogs Rescue. This is an event for all ages! Join them on November 3rd from 12 to 2 pm at 7020 Wisconsin Ave in Chevy Chase!
Nocturnal Neighbors
Do you have a little one who's interested in learning more about creatures of the night? On Saturday, November 3rd, by clicking here you can register for a time to head out to Locust Grove Nature Center at 7777 Democracy Boulevard to learn all about our nocturnal neighbors! The night starts off with a live animal presentation and concludes with roasted marshmallows. Be prepared for a small night hike and other awesome activities at the nature center. Please remember to register in advance! This is to keep you and the animals safe during the live animal presentation.
Christmas Bazaar
I mentioned it to start out the blog but it's official ... the Annual Danish Christmas Bazaar is back at Saint Elizabeth's Church on Montrose Road this November 10th from 11 am to 3 pm! Sponsored by the Royal Danish Embassy, this annual bazaar is one of the largest and most sought after bazaars in the DC metro area. With tables sponsored by LEGO for the kids, and featuring booths with cooking demonstrations, jewelry, deli, restaurants, embroidery, and much, much more, there's something for the entire family. For more information, click here.
Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade
The annual Thanksgiving Parade takes place on November 17th at 10 am, starting from Elisworth Drive and Fenton Street and heading south on Georgia Ave, ending at Silver Spring Avenue. There will be marching bands, giant turkeys, glittering floats, fire engines, performing dog and rescue animal groups, and much more! This is a rain or shine event, so plan accordingly. If you'd like more information, call 240-777-0311 or visit SilverSpringDowntown.com.
Montgomery Market Holiday Pop-Up
If you can't make it to the Thanksgiving Parade down county, consider joining the 1st Annual Montgomery Market Holiday Pop-Up at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets! This celebration begins with a tree lighting event on November 17th from noon to 7 pm, and through the 18th, local vendors will feature their products made exclusively in Montgomery County, MD. Expect craft and art booths, and if you're over 21, you'll find a selection of local craft breweries and wineries, as well. This will be a weekend of joy, as carolers and street performers will be there all day, and at 6:30 a selection of dances from the Nutcracker Ballet will be performed by the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre & Academy Clarksburg.
Rockville Musical Theatre
"Brigadoon" is playing November 2, 3, 9, and 10th, at 8 pm and on November 4th and 11th at 2 pm. From the Theatre: "The mystery and beauty of the Scottish Highlands is the backdrop for Lerner and Loewe’s magical tale about following your heart and the power of love. Music by Frederick Loewe.
